Horatio Caine- Portrayed by David Caruso

Horatio Caine’s Character- He is originally known as MDPD Lieutenant: Horatio “H” Caine. He is the head of Miami-Dade Crime lab. Formerly he was a homicide detective and bomb squad. He has also worked as a Forensic Analyst. He is very protective towards his team and they call him “H” affectionately. He has his different identity on the show with always wearing sun glasses, his one liners and most of all for his hi-tech weapons. He is very keen for maintenance of his weapons as once his team member Tim Speedle died during a shootout due to misfire from his gun. He was so devastated for Speedle’s death that he developed nightmares of that scene. He dated two women State Attorney Rebecca Nevins and Rachel turner, who got killed later on. He did get married to Eric Delko’s sister Marisol Delko but she too got murdered. He had a brother Raymond who was an undercover Narcotics officer and gets murdered and died in his arms. Horatio is very sympathetic towards his widow Yelins Salas. He also gives his name to illegitimate daughter of Raymond from his extra marital affair with a drug addict and conceals this from Yelina. In season six Horatio has a sixteen year old son Kyle. In the season six finale Horatio is shot and supposedly killed.

Place of Birth- Forest Hills, Queens, New York.

Recent Appearance- CSI Miami in May 2008.

Awards and Nominations- In 1993, got nominated for many awards for his work in NYPD Blue and TV guide listed him as one of the six new stars to watch in the 93-94 season.

Personal Life- he is of Irish and Italian descent. He has studied in the same school in Forest Hills where ray Romano and Pia Zadora have studied. He graduated in 1974 and in 1987, got the lead role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables for six months. He is co-owner of Steam, a clothing and furniture store in Miami Florida. He has a daughter from his second wife Rachel Ticotin. His daughter Greta was born in 1984. Now he has two more kids from his girl friend Liza Marquez. Hs youngest daughter born in 2007, and he currently lives in Los Angeles.

Career- His first film appearance was in Getting Wasted in 1980. Later in 80’s he worked in An Officer and a Gentleman, Blue City, Thief of hearts, China Girl, First Blood and did a recurring role on TV show Hill Street Blues. In the beginning of 90s he worked in two movies, King of New York and Mad Dog and Glory. In 1993 he became Detective John Kelly on NYPD Blue. In 1995, he acted in movies Kiss of Death and Jade. After leaving NYPD Blue in the second season, the success remained away from him for long time. Then in 2000 he returned with movie Proof of Life. Later on in 2001 he got a lead role in horror movie Session 9. Finally in 2002, he got his famous role in CSI Spin off series CSI-Miami. He became popular for his distinct style of one liner in his deep voice and putting on his sun glasses in mid sentence.
